Under glorious sunny skies on the beautiful Comrie Moor circuit, Steve Nutley attempted a solo break off the front of the TLI Jacobite Chase APR. The break lasted 1.5 of the 2 laps, leading both times at the top of the Comrie Moor climb, but was eventually pulled in by the leaders from the scratch group. The new finish up the single track Torlum Hill was brutal on empty legs. 1...Ross Creber....Plowman Craven..2:09:00 2...Phil Brown.....Velo Ecosse..@4s 3...Arthur Doyle....Dooleys..@10s 4...Stuart McGregor....Dooleys..@40s 5...Martin Coopland....Falkirk BC..@42s 6...Neil Cameron....Falkirk BC..@50s 7...Steve Nutley....FifeCycling2000..@1:10 Full results: Jacobite2.pdf Pictures: Lap 1, Lap 2 and Finish
Saturday 28th. March Rab Marshall was up and at it again in the West Pennine Hilly time trial, securing 18th. place. Apparently Rab is now such a common sight at these events in England that the organisers provide a special Scottish foods section in the post-race buffet. Full results here: http://tinyurl.com/cbfruv
Sunday 15th. March We had 4 members starting at the Corrieri Classic 10 time trail near Stirling. The East-West course was slow on the way out to the Kippen roundabout turn but fast back, with a moderate SW'ly blowing off the hills and across the strip. Under a grey sky some good times were recorded, including 2 PBs: 6th. Steve Nutley 21.37 (PB) 11th. Paul Gallacher 22.13 31st. Tom McInnes 23.42 (PB) 37th. Peter Lambie 24.11 The event was won by Dooleys RT's Arthur Doyle, the only rider on the day to get down into the 20s. Full results here: Corrieri09.pdf
Saturday 14th. March 3 teams competed in the Musselburgh 3-up team time trial. Due to a last minute withdrawal by one A team member and a first lap 'mechanical' for a C team member, only the B team rode as planned, with Tom McInnes, Jez Tomlinson and Rab Marshall putting in a solid performance in the exceedingly windy conditions. Dave Muir's place in the A team was taken by Pete Lambie, who had already completed one lap with the DNF'd C team!
Only one of us raced in the Super6 first round at Gifford. In race B Steve Nutley contested all 4 primes managing a 3rd. and a 4th. in the KoMs and a 1st. and a 3rd. in the Sprints, finishing joint leader on 6 points in the latter. Sadly, a near fall in the bunch sprint for the finish line at the finish saw him drop from the lead with 150m to go to finish down in 25th. place.
Saturday 28th. February Rab Marshall (our representative South of the border!) had a good run in the 14 mile Rossendale SpoCo time trial.
